New Program for Adults with Asperger’s Syndrome

 

Mental Health Professionals, PC announces an informational meeting on March 8, 2011 for people interested in our new program, Emotion Recognition and Social Skills for Adults with Asperger’s Syndrome.

About The Program

Emotion Recognition and Social Skills for Adults with Asperger’s Syndrome is based on current scientific evidence. It is designed for adults (age 18 and up) with Asperger’s Syndrome who are interested in:

  • Improving the ability to recognize complex emotions displayed on the faces (and heard in the voices) of other people
  • Feeling more comfortable in social situations
  • Meeting individual goals related to social skills

 

The 12-week program will start the week of April 4, 2011, and end the week of June 20, 2011. Program members will participate weekly in:

  1. Individual training sessions using interactive computer software, and
  2. Structured group sessions for building and improving social skills.  

 

About the Informational Meeting

What: There will be a short presentation about the program, including a demonstration of the interactive computer software, followed by a question/answer period.  Light refreshments will be served.

When: Tuesday, March 8, 2011, from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.

Healing the Trauma of Domestic Violence

Domestic violence: verbal, emotional, or physical. This 7-session therapeutic workshop is for women. There is also a separate workshop for men who have experienced domestic violence.

Recovery from Rescuing

West Bloomfield, MI-- Mental Health Professionals, P.C. offers a 3 hour personal growth seminar entited Recovery from Rescuing for people who wish to be less stressed and more effective in their efforts to help loved ones with mental illness and addictions.

Attendees will learn how to communicate with a loved one who has a mental illness or addiction, how to help without enabling unhealthy behaviors, and how to reduce personal guilt, fear, and resentment.

This therapeutic program is held at Mental Health Professionals, PC in West Bloomfield. (5600 W. Maple Rd, N Side, 1/4 mile E. of Orchard Lake Rd.,). 

Facilitators are Linda M. Hoes, PhD, a Nurse Practitioner Board Certified Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner with over 30 years clinical experience, and Jacqueline Castine, BA, Oakland County CMH Community Education Specialist.  Dr. Hoes is the author of Bipolar Disorder in Women (2010) and Self Management for Mood Disorders (2005). Castine is in recovery from bipolar disorder, chemical dependency and co-dependency.  She is the author of Recovery from Rescuing  (1989) and I wish I could fix It, But... (2005). Both are specialists in bipolar disorders and major depression.
