Group Therapy

In a safe, secure environment, the individuals in the group meet face to face with a well trained therapist.  The group intereracts and provides feedback by expressing their own feelings about what the group may say or do.  Group interaction allows members to learn more about different ways to react and interact with others.  The unity and synergy of the group helps establish a high level of trust and an understanding of confidentiality.

Members join a group to receive support and encouragement and to learn how to cope with problems.  Group therapy focuses on interpersonal relationships through spontaneous discussions.  Groups deal with issues like self esteem, intimacy and trust.  The feedback from the group gives the individual member a different perspective to gain awareness of maladaptive behavior.

Sessions are designed for free interaction beginning with the issues driving members to seek group therapy.  With proper direction, the therapist can give support, offer alternative actions and bring comfort.  Groups work to resolve problems and learn new behaviors.  In the climate of trust, members grow to care about each other.  The comfort level offered by the group encourages members to speak more freely than in more social settings.
